What does it mean that the website is not secure?
It means that the connection between your devide and the server (website) is not encrypted if you see that message in your browser. This means that anyone can listen on the communication between them.
We offer a free solution to encrypt the communication on all our web hosting accounts. Free SSL certificates are automatically installed for all our customers websites as long as certain criteria are fulfilled. This is required to be able to use https:// on your website instead of the unsecure http://.
How do you check if your website is not secure?
Go to http://www.exampledomain.org (change exampledomain.org to your domain) in a browser. If you are able to get to the website and you get a warning regarding insecure the communication is not secure. Test with https:// instead of http:// afterwards. If you get no errors or warnings regarding SSL certificates then your website has a valid SSL certificate. You should however ensure that the traffic to http:// is sent directly to https:// to make sure it is secured by default. You can follow one of these two methods to do that:

All our server have HSTS enabled which forces the browser to https if it has visited your page with https successfully before. You can turn that off as explained here.
