How to upgrade Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5/3.5?

Support for Joomla 1.5 ended in april 2012. Due to this Joomla recommends upgrading to 3.5.x.

There is unfortunately no easy way to upgrade Joomla 1.5 to 2.5 or 3.1, but it is recommended to follow Joomlas guide here.
